Mystery Bureau โบ Grade 4 standards โบ 4.NBT.B.4
๐ Common Core ยท 4.NBT.B.4 ยท Grade 4
This is the shortest standard in fourth grade place value and the most specific: the standard algorithm, fluently. Earlier grades allowed any place-value strategy; here the column method is named. At four digits the difficulty is entirely bookkeeping โ keeping carries in the right column across three or four of them โ which is why estimating first catches so many errors.
Quoted verbatim from the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Nothing here is paraphrased.

In plain English: Add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers fluently using the standard algorithm.
Each one runs in the browser with no account and nothing stored. Five questions apiece.
Real output from the activities above โ not written for this page, drawn from the same pools a student gets. The numbers are rebuilt on every attempt.
