Draw the Constellation by Skip Counting — Free Grade 3 Practice

The override code is written in the stars, and drawing it means counting by eights — 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 — while ignoring the decoy stars scattered in between. Skip counting is usually taught as a chant, and a chant collapses the moment a decoy appears. Having to reject 20 on the way from 16 to 24 turns it into something a third grader has to hold rather than recite. The step size changes each run, from threes up to nines.

👀 What to watch for

A child who can chant the eights but hesitates over the decoys is relying on sequence memory rather than the multiplication fact. That's fine at the start of third grade and a problem by the end of it — this station tends to expose it within one run.
