Mystery Bureau โบ Grade 2 โบ Subtraction within 100
๐ฏ Grade 2 ยท Subtraction within 100 ยท free, no sign-up
The hatch stays shut until the right two-digit number is dialed in, and getting it means subtracting: 65 โ 53, 93 โ 47, the ordinary work of second grade. Setting the answer on two wheels rather than typing it means the tens and the ones are entered separately, which quietly reinforces where a borrowed ten actually goes. The asteroid station mixes subtraction back in among the addition, so a cadet can't settle into doing one operation on autopilot.

Drawn from the same pool the activity uses, so these are the real thing rather than an illustration. The numbers change on every attempt โ there is no fixed set to memorize.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| 27 โ 19 = ? | 8 |
| 58 โ 25 = ? | 33 |
| 93 โ 44 = ? | 49 |
| 30 โ 12 = ? | 18 |
| 59 โ 27 = ? | 32 |
The most common second grade slip is subtracting the smaller digit from the larger regardless of position โ 65 โ 53 fine, 63 โ 55 answered as 12. If the tens wheel is right and the ones wheel is wrong, that's almost always what happened.
